Whales & Waves is a year-round beachfront resort located in the western part of Sumbawa Island. The resort occupies 2.2 hectares of oceanfront land set within a tropical palm grove.
The property can accommodate up to 55 guests and offers all the infrastructure required for a comfortable and memorable holiday on a tropical island.
Sumbawa is a large Indonesian island situated approximately 100 kilometres east of Bali. It is renowned for its green hills, pristine white-sand coves and clear blue waters. The island is often compared to Bali as it was 30 years ago—beautiful, authentic and largely untouched by mass tourism.
Sumbawa remains relatively undeveloped and uncrowded, allowing visitors to experience its natural landscapes, empty beaches and traditional local culture. At the same time, the island benefits from a network of national roads and established ferry and air connections with neighbouring islands.
The regional authorities are placing particular emphasis on infrastructure development and environmentally responsible tourism projects, creating significant long-term potential for the area.

Location and Accessibility
The resort is situated on the western coast of Sumbawa, overlooking the Alas Strait.
Poto Tano Harbour, which provides regular ferry connections between Sumbawa and Lombok, is approximately a 40-minute drive from the resort.
Currently the nearest domestic airport is located in Sumbawa Besar, approximately two hours away by car. Lombok International Airport can be reached in approximately three hours, including the ferry crossing.
The newly built Poto Tano Airport, located just 20 minutes from the resort and expected to begin operations by the end of 2026, will create significant new opportunities for the region and the resort.
